1 Month Old

I don't know how or why time goes so fast once you have kids, but it definitely does. Kellen is already a month old, and I have only 7 1/2 weeks left of my maternity leave. I'm bummed that I have to go back to work full-time, but that's our reality. I am trying not to worry too much about how hard it is going to be to go back, but it's difficult to put out of my mind. Luckily, we have great daycare providers!!!

Even though I'm worried about going back to work, it's not the easiest job being home with two kids. It felt like such a big accomplishment to make it through the first full week of Jay being back at work. I have so much respect for stay at home moms! I think being a working mom and balancing work and home is super hard, but being home all day with a toddler and a newborn is not easy either. I'm pretty happy if everyone gets fed a couple times and I get to shower at some point. Some days I feel like I spend more time scolding and threatening time outs than having fun. And of course, both kids don't necessarily want to nap at the same time! It's getting a little easier, and I know once Kellen is a bit bigger it will be a lot more fun for all of us. Of course, babies start getting "fun" right when maternity leave ends...so unfair!

Anyway! Kellen is a month old!!! His one month stats were: 10 lbs, 12 oz and 22.5 inches long. He's big, he's strong, and he's doing all the things 1 month olds are supposed to do. Yay!

Kellen is still eating great and is very efficient - it usually takes him only a few minutes to finish up. Again, very different than my first experience with nursing! It's so much easier this time around. Sleep is slowly starting to improve. We are getting more 3 hour stretches at night, which is nice. We all need it!

Kellen is doing awesome with tummy time and learning how to control his head. He has even managed to roll himself over twice. It's so cool to watch him looking around at the world!

Ellison is still loving having a little brother. We are still working on being gentle and leaving him alone when he's asleep, but it's really cute how she always wants to be by him and show him her toys and books.

Ells is still acting out a little bit, and has been trying to use the baby stuff (sitting in the bouncy seat, laying on the activity mat, putting pacifiers in her mouth, etc). Just trying to get our attention I'm sure. Her favorite things (besides Kellen) right now are coloring, having Jay or I draw pictures while she watches, building towers, reading books, her "doctor stuff", playing with her animals and food, her tablet, and making cookies. Oh, and the movie Frozen! She really wants to go play outside, but the weather has been keeping that from happening much...

She likes to "show" Kellen her animals...haha!

One more thing...I drove for the first time since having Kellen today! Only him in the car...too nervous to take both kids anywhere on my own yet!

That's all I've got for now...stayed tuned for lots more pictures soon :)
