2 Kids for 2 Weeks

We have now been a family of 4 for two whole weeks. As always, time seems to be going WAY too fast. Kellen is so small and snuggly and I want him to stay like this forever! We all love him so much. I love watching his little smiles after he eats, the funny faces he makes when he is awake, the little poses he gets into while asleep. I love watching Ellison with him. She adores "baby brother". She always wants to give him hugs and kisses and say hi to him. It is absolutely adorable! For the most part she has been very gentle with him.

However...I would be lying if I said this has been an easy transition. I have been feeling a lot of guilt about not being able to help around the house because of the C-section. I am so lucky to have a husband who not only does everything that needs to be done, but puts up with my complaining when it isn't done as fast as I want. He is always an amazing husband, but I never would have made it through the past two weeks without him!

Not being able to pick Ellison up or give her all the attention I think she deserves because I'm feeding Kellen so often has also been difficult for me. I am extremely nervous about managing both kids on my own with Jay back at work. At this point Kellen is eating every 2 hours or so, and sometimes it takes 45 minutes to get the whole process done. He is a really good eater but tends to fall asleep midway through. If I wake him up, he will keep going, if I let him sleep, he will wake up hungry a short time later. Same thing happens at night so we haven't been getting a whole lot of sleep! Luckily Ellison continues to sleep through his crying. We finally started giving him a pacifier more often at 11 days old. Before that he had only had it twice - after his circumcision and at newborn pics. I was trying to avoid them but it seems to help a little at night!

Newborn pictures turned out amazing, based on what we saw so far! Kellen did not want to cooperate (sleep), and we were so lucky that our very patient photographer gave us some extra time to get all the shots we wanted! Hoping to be able to post more soon!!!

Kellen was baptized on March 16. We had a great gathering with our families afterwards and it was a very blessed day!

Pastor Kneser married us and baptized both our babies :)

The little man!

St. Patrick's Day was Jay's last day of leave so we just hung out around the house. The kids were super cute in their matching pajamas!

Ellison is 25 months old as of St. Patrick's Day. Probably time to stop monthly updates, but since her and Kellen have such close birthdays, I probably won't! E seems so grown up now that she is a big sister. She is so cute and smart, every day she amazes us with the funny things she says and does. She has been singing more and more, and is getting really good at the ABCs. Bedtime is now a sing-along, rather than us singing to her.  She has memorized a lot of her favorite books, so she "reads" along with us too!
Daddy and Ells built her "bike"

Cooking with a buddy (he's wearing a chef hat and oven mitt)

Getting ready to go hang out with Papa

Making cookies with Mommy

Ellison makes sure we do tummy time with Kellen. She loves to lay down with him and wants Jay and I to do tummy time too! She even brings us blankies and buddies sometimes.
Even though she seems to love having her brother around, we have noticed a little more sass from Ellison since bringing him home. Her mood can change from angry to happy to sad in seconds. She doesn't always listen to us. She is a very independent young lady and wants to do everything herself. Sometimes she doesn't want to eat or sleep when we think she should. Getting her to pick up her toys can be a struggle. But it all seems like very typical toddler behavior, and we feel lucky to have such a sweet little girl the majority of the time!

Hoping to get some more sleep in the near future, and get better at managing a household with two kids. Praying it gets easier with time and practice!!!

  1. I love seeing pictures of your cute family. And can I just say I love the dress you wore for the baptism and you look flawless in every single picture.
