Half a Year!

Kellen is already 6 months old. And Ellison is going to be 3 in less than five months. This year is flying by! I can't believe we will be celebrating birthdays soon. With the holidays coming up, I know time is just going to keep flying on by!

Kellen's 6 month pediatrician visit went well. He did great with his shots - he didn't even cry for the first one! Our doctor was once again impressed with Kellen (especially his "hair explosion" and "skin like butter"). No surprises as far as stats - he is long (28.25 inches - 97%) and skinny (16 lbs, 7 oz - 27%) with a big head. Just like big sister! He's right where he should be developmentally (although I wish he could sit a little better, he's much more interested in crawling).

I'm thrilled with my 6+ months of nursing. We are still going strong! Kellen's easily distracted which can be a challenge, but he definitely loves to eat. Pumping is going well, too! I'm pretty proud of my freezer stash. I love the snuggle time I get with Kellen while he's eating, even if it's in the middle of the night (ok, most of the time). We started solid food with him the same day as his appointment, and he's had oatmeal, green beans, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, pear and banana so far. He has taken to it like a champ. He wants to help and we have to hold his arms down so he can't grab the spoon! It's a mess, but fun. He has 3 teeth now!!! All on the bottom.

Kellen is moving all over the place. He can get himself into a (tripod) sitting position, and he pushes up onto his hands and feet. He army crawls all over the place. I can't believe how mobile he is already! Time for more baby-proofing, I guess...

K Man also had his first haircut the week of his 6 month pictures. He sat on my lap and did great! He looks so grown up with his shorter hair. I can't wait to see the pictures Krystal took - both kids did so much better than I was expecting!

Ellison is still as hilarious as ever. She says the funniest things. She has been a bit bossy and demanding lately, and very emotional. 2 year olds are definitely a challenge! Everything is SO dramatic, and there are a lot of (unnecessary) tears. Luckily she recovers quickly and is laughing a minute or two later.

Ells didn't like Sunday school (too scary), so that is on hold for right now. I was hoping to get her used to the idea of school, so she wouldn't be scared when she starts preschool, but we've got time. For now we will do the Bible lessons and projects with her at home.

Last weekend Jay and Ron started on the basement project. We are hoping to have a better place for the kids to play, and to have people over, by the time it gets colder outside and definitely before the kids' birthdays. There is now a wall dividing the "storage" part of the basement from the part that will be the living space. Very exciting! Besides being good for the kids, it will be nice to have our abundance of "stuff" better stored, too.

Busy next few months coming up with the holidays....getting excited!
