Holiday Fun (+ Ellison is 22 Months Old)

Counting down with her Advent calendar

Less than a week to go until Christmas! Who's ready?! We did some major Christmas shopping (6 hours!) last weekend and even have a bunch of things wrapped now. Ellison and I baked cookies last week, and we have been singing and dancing to Christmas music and watching Christmas movies! She really likes to sing Frosty the Snowman, dance to Jingle Bells, and her favorite movie is the Grinch (she calls him "Binch"). We have also been working on some crafts (hoping to finish in time for Christmas). Ellison had no desire to sit on Santa's lap, even though Gramma and Papa got her dressed up all cute to go see him! Maybe next year...

Cookie baking day!!!

2 weeks ago we celebrated St. Nick's Day. Every year, I forget that not everyone does stockings on December 6. Someone always ends up mentioning it at work and there's always someone who have never heard of it. We always got St. Nick stockings growing up, so it's definitely something I want to do with my kids! Last year Ellison didn't really understand it, but this year she seemed to think it was fun opening the presents. She wanted to throw the paper away after she unwrapped each thing, so we will see how long it takes to open presents on Christmas... Besides St. Nick at home, Ellison also had Gramma Janis and Papa Ron, Auntie Kon, and Grandpa Jay and Sandy give her something! A little bit of present opening practice before all the craziness of Christmas begins. This year we have condensed all of our celebrations into the period between December 21 and 26, which is pretty good considering the amount of branches on our family tree!

Ellison is 22 months old as of this week. I can't believe she is is old enough to say things like "interception", "decorations", "canker sore", and "corncob pipe". She suddenly seems so big (or at least so tall, she only weighs about 23 pounds) and it's a little sad to both Jay and I that she's getting big so fast. She's learning so much, has such a big personality, and a SHARP memory. I told her last weekend that we couldn't go to the zoo because it was dark and the animals (I think it was camels, specifically) were sleeping, and the next day she (again) asked if we can go to the zoo and started listing off animals that are sleeping there and saying we should wake them up! She remembers so many names and will randomly start talking about people she hasn't seen in weeks (usually her cousins).

Ells is still obsessed with coloring (she usually mentions it right away when she wakes up in the morning). She loves helping us with things (watering the Christmas tree, cooking, cleaning...pretty much everything). She still likes to go outside (in this cold!!!), so we just got her a little shovel because she wanted to help daddy with the snow. She can be a bit quirky - certain things really have to be a specific ways for her or there might be a meltdown- but we just love our little nugget SO much!!!

29 weeks into pregnancy with Baby Boy Miller. Third trimester already! His room is in the process of being painted, and then we will start working on getting Ellison out of the crib. I have pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I'm probably not going to stop getting sick until after Baby is born. This week (for the first time) I weighed a little bit - 0.2 lbs - more than I did the day I found out I was pregnant! I can definitely attest to the fact that every pregnancy is different. Time is flying, though, and I am excited to meet our little man and see what Ellison thinks of having a baby brother!
Didn't get a picture yet this week, but here's last week...

Hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas!!!
