Miller Time: Camera Crazy

I used to think I took a lot of pictures. Then Ellison was born, and we came home from the hospital (after less than 2 days of being there) with over 400 pictures of her. At last count, we had over 1500 pictures of her on our computer! Maybe this is excessive, but every thing she does (yes, even sleeping) seems like something we NEED to capture! I feel so lucky that we have the technology to do this. When we were growing up, our parents couldn't just take 20 pictures of the same thing and delete the bad ones. People could end up with entire rolls of film that they thought contained all these precious moments, and when the roll came back someone was blinking or not looking at the camera...in every picture. What a bummer! I feel blessed that I can load my pictures onto a website like Snapfish or Shutterfly and print as many copies as I want, in any size. I can crop my pictures with the computer, take out the red eyes, even make them black and white. We don't have Photoshop, but I know you can do even more amazing things with programs like that. Yay technology!
Maybe it's because of all this that I feel like I HAVE to take a million pictures of my baby. But I know there will come a time when she probably won't appreciate me taking pictures of every single thing she does, so I suppose I need to take advantage of the time I have to do just that!

We have a mini photo shoot with Ellison every week. I made special blocks for this purpose during my pregnancy (we took weekly "bump pictures" too). There are two number blocks and a big bottom block that has weeks, months, and years on it. I actually got the idea for them from similar blocks I saw online...for $40. There was no way I was spending that on 3 blocks of wood (ok, Jay said no!). So we made these instead, and I have loved having them! I'm sure once I go back to work we will miss some weeks, but so far we have been really good about our photo shoots. Ellison usually cooperates and lets us get at least one good picture. Here's my favorite from each week so far...

(in case you wondered, there is no 4 weeks because the way the days fell in March, she was 4 weeks old only one day before she was 1 month old, so we waited until that day!)
